French bakery near the Upper East SideA French bakery near the Upper East Side.
Croissants, pains aux raisins, apple turnovers, Danish, madeleines and quiches, made in our family café on East 102nd Street.
A French pastry case, six blocks from the Upper East Side.
French bakeries are built around two families of baking. Viennoiseries are the laminated and enriched doughs, like croissants, pains au chocolat and apple turnovers, eaten in the morning. Pâtisserie is the world of cakes and desserts. Our pastry case at Frenchy Coffee is mostly viennoiseries and small treats, with savoury bakes for lunch.
We are a family business: Perrine and Aurélien come from Évian-les-Bains in the French Alps, and many of our pastries come from family recipes. Frenchy Coffee is at 129 East 102nd Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues, six blocks north of 96th Street, where the Upper East Side ends and East Harlem begins.

Boulangerie, viennoiserie, pâtisserie: what is the difference?
In France, a boulangerie is first a bread bakery: baguettes and loaves, usually with croissants on the side. Viennoiserie is the name for the morning pastries made from laminated or enriched dough, such as croissants, pains au chocolat, pains aux raisins and brioche. Pâtisserie covers cakes, tarts and desserts like éclairs and macarons. Many French bakeries mix all three. At Frenchy, our focus is viennoiseries and small treats like madeleines and beignets, plus savoury bakes such as quiche and friands, served with coffee in a café setting.
More than a bakery
Frenchy is a café as well as a bakery. Pair your pastry with an espresso drink, a café au lait, cold brew or a matcha, or try a croffle, croissant dough cooked in a waffle iron and topped to order. Before you leave, our French grocery shelf has foie gras, LU biscuits, coquillettes and other products from France.
