Breakfast in Manhattan

A French breakfast, from 7 am.

Breakfast in France is simple: a croissant or a tartine, a café au lait or a coffee, and a few minutes to sit down. That is the breakfast we serve every morning at Frenchy Coffee. Frenchy Coffee is at 129 East 102nd Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues, six blocks north of 96th Street, where the Upper East Side ends and East Harlem begins.

What to order

  • The French classic: a butter croissant or a chocolate croissant with a café au lait.
  • Something savoury: a quiche (tomato and goat cheese, veggie or four cheese), a savoury friand, or a croissant sandwich with ham and Swiss or smoked salmon and cream cheese.
  • Something sweet and warm: a croffle, croissant dough cooked in a waffle iron, topped with Nutella, fruit or dulce de leche. Bacon and maple if you prefer salty.
  • To drink: drip coffee from $3, espresso drinks, cold brew with vanilla sweet cream cold foam, matcha whisked to order, or a lemonade.

A French breakfast vs a New York breakfast

A typical breakfast in France is light and mostly sweet: bread with butter and jam, or a croissant on weekends, with a bowl of café au lait, a coffee or a hot chocolate. Eggs, bacon and pancakes are rare at home. A New York breakfast leans savoury and filling. At Frenchy we serve both sides: the French classics from our pastry case, and savoury options like quiche, croissant sandwiches and a bacon and maple croffle for mornings when you need more than a pastry.

Open early, every day

We open at 7 am on weekdays and 8 am on weekends, early enough for a coffee and a croissant before work, after the school run or before a shift at Mount Sinai Hospital, about five minutes away on foot.

Breakfast to go

In a hurry? Everything in the pastry case is ready to take away, and our coffee drinks are made to order at the counter. For delivery, order on Uber Eats. Taking breakfast to Central Park? The park is a ten-minute walk west, and the Conservatory Garden and the Harlem Meer are at its north end.

Breakfast for the office

For a team breakfast or a morning meeting, our breakfast catering has pastry and Danish assortments, mini quiches, mini sandwiches and coffee by the gallon. A breakfast for about 12 people starts at $78 at menu prices.

Getting here from the Upper East Side

Take the 6 train to 103rd Street, two minutes from the café, or walk up Lexington or Park Avenue. From Carnegie Hill and Museum Mile, walk east on 102nd or 103rd Street.
